4.3 Training and Networking Activities.
General aim of the project to
draw attention to climate change, to develop new methods of raising awareness.
We are going to create a platform in youth groups for saving our world.
We will discover values
and ways of action, analyzing the differences between the theoretical ecology
and the practical ecology, searching
for a way to fine them down for a more
practical and effective way.
During
training course we will implement activities and exercises that strengthen some of these basic competences:
team-building, facilitation,
communication and creative thinking skills.
Several methods of non-formal
learning
will be combined to explore the topics: intercultural learning exercises,
simulation exercises, discussions, creative thinking techniques,
brainstormming, self-assessment inventories, reflection groups and
presentations.
European
cooperation will be highlighted through
networking, according to Youth in
Action priorities.
In
our opinion, “ECO Wave” will enrich creativity
and environmental responsability. By
active participation we expect awareness of the social and cultural reality
and the opportunity to think and develop
new creative initiatives with positive ecological impacts.

Located in the historical region of Moldavia,

A brief history
The first
traces of Galati History date back from the Neolithic when a
small town was founded on the ancient land of the Dacians. Once with the
beginning of the Roman domination over this land, the inhabitants became more
and more dependent on this new organization and lifestyle. Nowadays discoveries
have proved that Galati dates before the foundation of Moldavia county.
Galati
History is related to an important figure in the Romanian history, the great
ruler Alexandru Ioan Cuza, whose reign over both Moldavia and the Romanian
County led to the unifications of these two lands and to the creation of the
later country Romania. From this moment on the city went through different
periods of evolution and then decade, but the most atrocious period was
represented by World War II when the entire historic center of the town was
destroyed. The building of the largest steel plant from Eastern Europe turned
Galati into an industrial town and helped to its economic, cultural and social
evolution.
Places of Worship
Fortified

It is the oldest building in Galați,
was consecrated as a place of worship in September 1647 during the reign of

of need became defensive fortification. The tower, consisting of two levels, is
provided with a room to hide assets, with two ramparts, and an access door,
probably to a balcony. The second floor was fitted with windows and
battlements. Another defense to "Virgin" is reinforced bridge
consisting of two parts, one above the nave and two above the altar.. They say
there is a secret tunnel under the Danube from the church to the other side of
the river in order to hide assets and escape the attacks of enemies.

of the last decade of the nineteenth century, early twentieth century, was
designed by architect Petre Antonescu. Today it is home to several institutions
such as the Maritime Danube Ports Administration and Navrom.

Palace of Justice, the headquarters of the University today occupies the old
city's architectural landscape most prominent place, because of its monumentalitații.

built between 1911-1913.

ECO
Volunteers involved 35 people, aged between 18 and 25 years, 4
youngsters + 1 leader
from each country, fulfilling gender balance
condition.
The main goal of the project was a multicultural exchange of ideas,
stimulating creativity and entrepreneurship, the main concern being
environmental issues.
The main theme of the project was realizing an advertise and an
ECO day consisting in a street action that illustrated the importance of volunteering and encouraged the development
of youngsters “green” skills and behaviors.
We
used all our creativity and entrepreneurship, in order to find solutions of protecting the
environment. The quantifiable result
is an advertise realized by the
participants, which express cultural
stereotypes and promotes active
participation in the social life. The motto of the advertise is : „Be the
best, clean the rest !“.
Also, we promoted European citizenship
among youngsters and persons who are not familiar with the Youth in Action
Programme.
This
experience contributed to the personal development of the youngsters,
which participated with their ideas in preparing and realizing the “ECO day”
and the advertise. Solidarity and tolerance among
youngsters were increased and the group developed a mutual
understanding.
